Source of Raw Material

The oolitic limestone of the Cotswold were laid down over 165 million years ago, and have been quarried since the Roman times. This natural stone is responsible for the outstanding beauty of many Cotswold villages.

The natural limestone used in many of our products are quarried in the heart of the Cotswold Hills. Oxleaze quarry lies between Cheltenham and the market town of Stow-on-the-Wold.

Quarrying Cotswold Natural Stone

Within the quarry the stone varies in colour according to the seam, with colours ranging from a light grey to a lower buff. The quarry produces blocks of various sizes, which are then taken to our stone yard.
